About The Position

The Associate Director, Federal Government Affairs (FGA) will contribute to Takeda’s advocacy efforts and help execute strategies aligned with legislative and executive branch priorities. As a key internal expert on the external environment, th is role will provide strategic insights identify ing threats and opportunities related to commercial, clinical, and operational practices . T he Associate Director , Federal Government Affairs will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to advance good policy and mitigate against harmful ones , ensuring alignment with Takeda’s business objectives . This individual will be responsible for building a variety of strong, meaningful networks and s taying current on critical policy issues will facilitate readiness to deliver on Takeda’s mission and values . This a hybrid role located in Washington, D.C.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• 7 + years experience working directly in a n advocacy and policy-related field
• Talented networking skills and competent understanding of stakeholder dynamics affecting government policy.
• S trategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize and adapt actions based on a fluid macroenvironment .
• Proven track record in developing and influencing practical and implementable policy solutions.
• Strong writing skills; a writing sample will be .
• Experience in project management and directing the work of external consultants and stakeholders.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across cultures and functions.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, both with and without formal authority.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of strategies and tactical plans to influence Congress, the White House, and related agencies concerning Takeda priorities.
• Assist in building professional networks with elected leaders and key stakeholders to promote access to innovative bio-pharmaceuticals and Takeda’s presence as a leading pharmaceutical company.
• Collaborate on external meetings and advocacy efforts that strengthen Takeda’s federal relationships.
• Provide input into lobbying efforts with Members of Congress, executive branch officials, and federal agencies including executive engagement .
• Contribute to cross-functional teams to help identify risks and opportunities for Takeda commercial, clinical, and operational practices.
• Provide insights and recommendations on federal legislative, executive, and regulatory activities impacting Takeda to support leadership decisions.
• Monitor and report on legislative opportunities that align with business goals and recommend advocacy strategies to influence legislation and agency actions.
• Represent Takeda in relevant PhRMA work groups and trade associations to advance shared advocacy objectives .
• Collaborate with Takeda teams, including S tate G overnment A ffairs, Public Policy & Reimbursement, and Operations, to ensure alignment of strategic activities.
• Manage external consultants on specific initiatives under senior leader direction.
• Enhance Takeda’s visibility in Washington, D.C., by supporting branding initiatives and policy advocacy efforts.
