The Associate Director of Facility Operations provides leadership for departmental planning, operations, and administration. This position oversees the university’s third-party facility service contract for custodial, grounds, and maintenance. The Associate Director trains staff, manages business operations, and ensures service quality, timely completion, and accurate billing. This position drives continuous improvement and aligns facilities operations with the university’s strategic goals. Serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA). Position is located on Tarleton State’s main campus in Stephenville, Texas with normal work hours from Monday to Friday; from 8am to 5pm or as work requirements indicate. Position requires 24/7 on-call responsibility and extended work schedule during peak seasons.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Seven years of related experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, proofreading, and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret data and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development of facility management goals and objectives, and executes initiatives by managing project timelines, cost tracking, and completion.
  • Oversees University’s third-party facility service contract for custodial, grounds, and maintenance, including quality assurance, contract reporting, monitoring, and KPI management.
  • Collects, reviews, and generates reports to track progress of KPI and facility data, provides performance feedback to vendors and University leadership.
  • Coordinates with stakeholders on facility outages, closures, and changes in service scope; ensures accurate data capture for contract modifications.
  • Reviews invoices and payments for accuracy and compliance; monitors contract status and deliverables.
  • Supervises, trains, and manages employees and student workers.
  • Provides a high level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders seeking feedback to continually improve service quality.
  • Responds to emergency outages.
  • Acts as a liaison for facilities services.
  • Acts as representative of Campus Operations and as valued member of TSU as part of the A&M system and performs other duties as assigned, including serving satellite campuses.
