About The Position

IQVIA RDS Inc. is seeking an Associate Director, DevOps Engineering in Durham, NC. This role involves devising and implementing DevOps strategies and methods throughout the development and deployment process for technical solutions. The Associate Director will lead DevOps teams, monitor project workflow, and ensure the finished product meets quality and reliability standards. Responsibilities include overseeing the implementation, deployment, and integration of solutions, planning, building, configuring, and testing solutions, maintaining systems, analyzing and approving new code, performing automation tasks, and managing all aspects of solutions deployment and technical operations. The role also requires working with services and technology teams to define and implement CI/CD best practices, driving cloud and container strategy, and evaluating/adopting configuration management, build management, and continuous integration tools and methodologies. The Associate Director will guide teams on SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, Refactoring, and Testing Techniques. Collaboration with the development manager on the DevOps roadmap and resource needs is essential. The role includes participating in software and hardware releases to ensure service readiness, product usability, and case deflection by identifying product enhancements, and performing DevOps-related defect triage with Product and Engineering teams. Collaboration with Project Teams to implement end-to-end Build and Release processes is also a key function. This position has supervisory responsibilities for Sr. Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer 2, Sr. Network Systems Engineer, Software Engineer 2, and DevOps Engineer, or related roles.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field or foreign equivalent.
Five (5) years of Software Development or Cloud Engineering experience.
Five (5) years of DevOps experience.
Experience with Git, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, Shell Scripting, AWS, Azure, and DataDog.
Utilizing knowledge of Shell Scripting & Python.
Tailoring technical problem descriptions and root cause analysis statements to various audiences (customer support, end customers and development teams).
Assisting and directing troubleshooting for Field escalations.
Experience with AWS, Azure, React, Java, and Postgres database.
Four (4) years of experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
Four (4) years of experience building and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
One (1) year of experience managing software engineering teams.

Guide team on SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, Refactoring and Testing Techniques.
Work with the development manager to align on DevOps roadmap and resource needs.
Participate in software and hardware release to ensure service readiness, product usability, and case deflection by identifying product enhancements.
Perform DevOps related defect triage with Product and Engineering teams.
Collaborate with Project Teams to implement end-to-end Build and Release process.
Supervise Sr. Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer 2, Sr. Network Systems Engineer, Software Engineer 2, and DevOps Engineer, or related.
