About The Position

As Associate Director, Data Engineering & Architecture at Biogen, you will be an integral part of the Enterprise Application Services team, focusing on enhancing our data management and analytics capabilities. Reporting to the Head of Data Management Analytics, you will contribute significantly to shaping Biogen's next-generation enterprise data architectures. Your role involves exploring innovative architectural solutions that align with our Data Management and Analytics (DMA) strategy, while leading design and delivery for specific projects. This position is crucial for the integration and optimization of data systems, ensuring scalable and efficient data solutions that support our business objectives. Your contributions will drive technological advancements and play a pivotal role in maintaining robust data governance and architecture standards across the organization. This position is a Hybrid role with expectations of 3 days per week on campus in either Cambridge or RTP. This position can be based in either Cambridge, MA or RTP, NC. The pay range posted encompasses the pay range for both potential work locations. Actual pay will be determined by the selected candidate’s work location, as well as relevant experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in Data Management, Analytics, or related arenas.
  • 3+ years of experience in cross-system and full-stack architecture using Snowflake.
  • Proven ability to develop Snowflake data platform roadmaps.
  • Strong expertise in cloud data platforms, data modeling, and data governance.
  • Experience supporting enterprise analytics, reporting, AI/ML, and data-driven business initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry preferred.
  • Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Power BI, Informatica, and modern data engineering platforms.
  • Experience with GxP and regulated environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain enterprise data architecture standards, technology strategies, and Snowflake roadmaps.
  • Establish data governance standards encompassing metadata management, data quality, lineage, and privacy compliance.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies in cloud, AI, analytics, and data through assessments and POCs.
  • Collaborate with IT stakeholders to align technology solutions with business objectives.
  • Lead architecture design, solution reviews, and technical governance for data initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance for implementation teams.
  • Manage stakeholder requests and prioritize them to align with business needs.
  • Facilitate meetings with IT and business stakeholders to drive alignment on business needs.
  • Engage proactively with leadership to manage dependencies on other departments.
  • Make independent decisions on complex projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Plan and estimate project timelines to deliver as per established priorities.
