About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Director, Credit Risk to join our growing team in the heart of New York City. Depending on the skills and competencies of the candidate, the role will focus on either Funds Finance or Specialised Finance with an opportunity to learn and develop both disciplines. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and managing the credit risk associated with our diverse portfolio of Funds Finance and / or Specialised Finance transactions. Your expertise will help shape the financial success of the US Financial Sponsors portfolio across various funds structures and asset classes including infrastructure, renewable energy, digital assets, and more.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience across Funds or Specialised Finance, or related roles within a financial institution, investment bank, or advisory firm.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with expertise in financial risk assessment and / or modelling techniques.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A track record understanding, analysing, managing and mitigating credit risks through the fund or project transaction lifecycle.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Financial Sponsors, Funds and Specialised Finance structures, credit risk principles, and regulatory frameworks.
  • US citizenship or US working rights.

Nice To Haves

  • A Masters degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive credit risk assessments for Funds Finance and / or Specialised Finance transactions, including detailed analysis of Subscription Finance and Net Asset Value facility structures, project evaluation, financial modelling, stress testing and scenarios analysis, and underlying asset creditworthiness.
  • Support due diligence activities to evaluate transaction risks and mitigate potential issues while coordinating with various stakeholders.
  • Support the development and implementation of effective risk mitigation strategies to protect NAB's interests while supporting transaction success.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, incl. exposure to financial sponsors, lenders, and industry participants, to ensure alignment and successful transaction outcomes.
  • Support the preparation of detailed risk reports, presentations, and risk views for senior management and the Risk Management Committee.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes to inform risk assessment and decision-making processes.
  • Identify, implement and support streamlining and simplification initiatives for both New York and across Credit Risk.
