About The Position

This role plays an integral leadership role in the overall management and direction of all Corporate Accounting departmental operations and staff, primarily within the Expenses team. The position provides leadership and direction for activities related to corporate financial policies and procedures, consolidations, and corporate governance. It involves maintaining the company’s system of accounts and keeping books and records on all company transactions and assets. The role is responsible for all general accounting and control activities such as journal entries, consolidations, account analysis and reconciliation, maintenance of account structures, ensuring the integrity of data reflected in the corporate financial systems, and coordination of the monthly closing processes. This position also functions as a point of contact with external auditors, coordinating the collection of all data required for such audits. The Associate Director will stay abreast of “best practices” in corporate governance and internal controls, incorporating them into the company’s systems and processes. They will provide management and direction of staff in specific accounting function(s), making decisions regarding employment, performance appraisals, training and development, disciplinary actions, and salary adjustments. The role requires liaising with management in other departments to understand initiatives, explore potential impacts on financial reporting and accounting, and ensure proper accounting treatment. Additionally, the Associate Director acts as a liaison in providing required financial information in response to auditor, SEC, and IRS requests, ensuring proper information is maintained for historical purposes. The role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining departmental policies, procedures, systems, and internal work standards to enhance efficiency, and planning, implementing, coordinating, and executing Internal Controls. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ten or more years of related accounting experience required
  • CPA preferred
  • Combination of public accounting and/or industry experience required
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Responsibilities
