About The Position

Provide career advising and programming to undergraduate, graduate students, and alumni of the University of Richmond’s School of Arts and Sciences, Jepson School of Leadership, and Robins School of Business. Serve as the department’s lead representative to the Robins School of Business. Develop relationships with campus and external constituents including employers, alumni, faculty/staff and parents to fulfill the goals and mission of Career Services (CS).

Requirements

  • Knowledge of finance and accounting early recruitment practices and trends, as well as familiarity with career development and student development theories, research and practices.

Nice To Haves

  • MBTI and Strong Interest Inventory certification preferred
  • Master’s degree strongly preferred, ideally in business, higher education administration, or counseling

Responsibilities

  • Career Advising and Programming Coordinate and lead career advising efforts for students interested in finance and accounting careers.
  • Advise students about career exploration, experiential learning pathways, and search strategies for internships, jobs, and graduate school; advisement may occur through individual appointments, small group meetings, class presentations, and events (workshops, panels, summits, treks, etc.).
  • Collaborate with team to develop presentations and material related to self-exploration, résumé writing, interviewing, internship/job search strategies, networking tactics, and developing trends in the workplace; update career development tools annually.
  • Research and prepare career exploration topics, focusing especially on first- and second-year students.
  • Administer and interpret personality and skills assessments (MBTI, STRONG, etc.)
  • Lead a strategic and coordinated approach to career services for the Robins School of Business, including formation of annual comprehensive business school career advising and programming goals.
  • Serve as primary contact for the Director of Career Programs in Business and business faculty and staff.
  • Serve as career services representative for business professional development programs and the Student Advisory Council.
  • Serve as advising liaison to the finance and accounting industries as well as other assigned industries/professions.
  • In collaboration with the employer development team, devise and implement content strategy for assigned areas with the goal of diversifying and expanding total employment prospects for students.
  • Collaborate with the communications and programs team to effectively market opportunities to students and alumni.
  • Serve on University committees as assigned.
  • Lead regular meetings with the Robins School of Business administration, faculty and staff to drive progress toward shared strategic career development initiatives.
  • Provide coaching, and feedback to direct report; contribute to onboarding efforts for new team members, including direct reports.
  • In accordance with department practices, regularly prepare and follow-up on advising appointments and programs.
