About The Position

The Associate Director of Career Services, under general direction, provides oversight for the Career Services Center. Advises students, alumni, and community members during all stages of career exploration and decision-making. Plans, designs, oversees, and assesses the delivery of career development workshops. Salary: $61,260.00 annually

Requirements

  • Master's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Effective problem solving, analytical, public speaking, and marketing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory and budgetary experience.
  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Higher Education Leadership, Counseling/Educational Psychology, Business Leadership, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Director of Career Services to lead Career Services for the university.
  • Collaborates with Experiential Learning and Civic Engagement areas as relevant.
  • Oversees career development services.
  • Advises and counsels students and alumni for career counseling, career exploration, resume review, interview preparation, and other career development support.
  • Oversees initiatives focused on alumni for purposes of career support and development as well as mentorship and networking sources.
  • Familiar with theoretical framework for career development such as design thinking, trait and factor theory, and broader chaos theory.
  • Assesses programs and processes and provides reports on relevant data, demonstrating alignment with Career Services and divisional strategic plan.
  • Maintains and supports career services software; expands employer awareness of job posting software (Handshake) to increase job postings; expands student awareness of software for job/internship search and overall use.
  • Oversees campus-wide student employee collaborations, such as professional development program. Partners with Human Resources, Financial Aid, and other similar offices in order to encourage cross-collaboration in aiding and supporting the professional growth of students working on-campus.
  • Oversees peer career mentorship program, including budget oversight and regular supervision and professional development.
  • Maintains confidentiality and keeps accurate, updated records following office procedures.
  • Refers students to the Counseling Center or other campus resources when appropriate.
  • Remains abreast and has the ability to discuss current events taking place in the field of higher education, current local and global workforce, and Career Services.
  • Prepares monthly and annual reports on student career development data as needed.
  • Directs, develops, and coordinates career-related educational programs for classes, student organizations, groups of prospective students, and others as appropriate.
  • Provides career support workshops and presentations.
  • Maintains current knowledge of labor market trends, occupational information, and the local, state, and national employer base.
  • Shares pertinent workforce data with team, campus community, and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Builds relationships with employers to obtain new potential employer contacts and job opportunities.
  • Supervises Career Advisor staff and other student employee(s).
  • Provides mentorship, support, professional development opportunities, and evaluation as the supervisor.
  • Supports employer-partnered events such as career fairs and other career-related forums.
  • Supports Ready to Work program with resources and periodic professional development, such as presentations.
