About The Position

BeOne is seeking an experienced and visionary Associate Director of Bioinformatics to join their Translational Discovery, Research, and Medicine team. This role is crucial for enhancing the company's bioinformatics infrastructure and capabilities in the United States. The position will provide strategic and technical expertise and leadership to support clinical biomarker analysis and translational research. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in Omics data analysis and interpretation, a strong biological background in Oncology and Immunology, and the leadership and communication skills necessary to facilitate international and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

  • Proficient in programming and scripting with R, along with expertise in at least one other programming language (e.g., Python, Perl, Java).
  • Skilled in working with Linux systems and server/cloud computing environments.
  • Extensive experience in analyzing high-throughput biomedical data (e.g., RNASeq, scRNAseq, WES, spatial gene expression profiling, or human genetics): including data cleaning, functional annotation, normalization, interpretation, and visualization.
  • Familiarity with tools for reproducible research such as Git, Conda, Snakemake, or Nextflow.
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical biomarker analysis, particularly focused on Omics biomarker data for oncology, hematology, or immunology-related drug discovery and development.
  • Distinguished track record of driving innovative drug discovery and development projects in oncology, immunology, or other disease areas.
  • Strong foundation in statistics and mathematics.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and leadership skills; experience in delivering within a matrix working environment.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English; fluency in Mandarin.
  • A Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or other related fields with at least 8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • US citizenship or green card required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead bioinformatics scientist for internal drug discovery and development programs, providing comprehensive hands-on support for new target exploration and validation, Omics-related experiment design and analysis, clinical biomarker testing platform and vendor selection, and clinical biomarker analysis with interpretation.
  • Design, develop, and deploy effective bioinformatics workflows and interactive tools to analyze high-dimensional Omics data, including bulk and single-cell transcriptomes, whole-exome sequencing (WES), and proteomes data.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to establish and maintain the bioinformatics computing and analysis infrastructure.
  • Develop and execute detailed Omics data generation and analysis plans to support and influence the internal program development; utilize proprietary and public biological and biomedical data to generate actionable insights; propose follow-up validation plans and drive cross-functional validation work.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to bioinformatics scientists, promoting innovation and excellence.
  • Work with research scientists and the global biomarker and translational research team, adhering to scientific practices and maintaining proper documentation of activities and analyses.
  • Present analytical results clearly and concisely, using well-designed presentation materials.
