About The Position

Vividion Therapeutics, Inc. is seeking an Associate Director, Accounting to help shape how Accounting operates today while building the capabilities needed for tomorrow. Reporting to the Controller, this leader will play a pivotal role in strengthening organizational capability, developing future leaders, and expanding the leadership capacity needed to support long-term success. The Controller retains strategic leadership and final decision-making authority over accounting governance, material risk decisions, and executive stakeholder alignment, while the Associate Director owns the operational execution that enables those outcomes. Success is measured not only by accurate and timely results, but by whether the Accounting function becomes stronger, better documented, and less dependent on individual knowledge or single-person dependency. This role is ideal for a leader who enjoys building, improving, and scaling organizations. The Associate Director will drive execution across accounting operations, strengthen processes and controls, and help create the structure, discipline, and organizational capability needed for long-term success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required; CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including increasing leadership responsibility.
  • Experience leading accounting operations, close processes, financial reporting support, and audit activities.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams through significant system, process, organizational, or business change.
  • Proven ability to create structure, accountability, and execution discipline in evolving operating environments.
  • Ability to identify operational risks, ownership or capability gaps, capacity constraints, and recurring execution issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Experience deploying resources effectively across teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance near-term execution with long-term organizational development and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate, timely, and predictable execution.
  • Coordinate workflows across Accounting Managers, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and other business partners.
  • Establish clear ownership, review standards, documentation, controls, and backup coverage for key deliverables.
  • Stabilize and optimize Workday-enabled accounting processes, workflows, reporting, and controls.
  • Identify operational drift, capacity constraints, and process gaps, and implement sustainable improvements or resource recommendations.
  • Serve as the primary operational liaison for parent company stakeholders, owning the execution, tracking, and follow-through of reporting deliverables and audit support.
  • Partner with FP&A, Procurement, HR, IT, and Legal to coordinate accounting-related activities and resolve operational issues.
  • Recognize transactions or business changes requiring additional accounting guidance, escalating material risks to the Controller as appropriate.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure accounting records, workpapers, and reporting packages are complete, accurate, and audit ready.
  • Coach and support accounting managers and staff to strengthen ownership, accountability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement through clear documentation, standard operating procedures, and cross-training.
