About The Position

The Associate Director, Account Strategy & Planning (Business Case Development) is responsible for leading strategic pricing, contracting, and financial analyses that support market access and customer-facing decisions across payers, health systems, group purchasing organizations, specialty pharmacies, wholesalers, and other key customers. This individual serves as a strategic business partner to Market Access, Brand Teams, Finance, Government Pricing, Contracts, Patient Services, Sales, and Insights & Analytics by developing Business Case Documents (BCDs), conducting scenario modeling, evaluating contracting opportunities, and providing actionable recommendations that optimize product access, profitability, and long-term portfolio performance. Our Sandoz flexible hybrid working approach allows US office-based employees to work up to 50% of their monthly workday remotely. This role will not have the ability to be located remotely. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Healthcare Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical market access, pricing, finance, contracting, government pricing, revenue management, analytics, or related commercial functions.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Experience evaluating complex contracting and pricing opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and business analytics skills.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of BCDs for customer contracts, RFPs, pricing requests, launches, and strategic market access initiatives.
  • Conduct financial modeling, net price analysis, margin assessments, and profitability evaluations across channels and customer segments.
  • Develop and evaluate contracting scenarios to support Pricing Committee and leadership decision-making.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and tradeoffs associated with proposed contracting strategies.
  • Support launch planning and lifecycle management initiatives through strategic pricing recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with Market Access Strategy, Brand, Finance, Government Pricing, Contracts, Commercial Operations, Patient Services, Sales, and Insights & Analytics teams.
  • Facilitate alignment across stakeholder groups to ensure assumptions, forecasts, and recommendations are validated and actionable.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customer-facing teams regarding pricing strategy and contract structures.
  • Translate complex financial analyses into concise business recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Own end-to-end BCD development, including opportunity assessment, financial modeling, recommendation development, approval routing, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with pricing governance, grants of authority, and internal approval processes.
  • Prepare and present recommendations to Pricing Committee and senior leadership forums.
  • Improve consistency, transparency, and quality of BCD processes and documentation.
  • Develop advanced analytical tools, dashboards, and reporting solutions that improve decision-making.
  • Monitor deal performance, customer profitability, contract outcomes, and market trends.
  • Perform post-deal assessments to measure actual versus expected business impact.
  • Support development of enterprise-level analytics and business intelligence capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, automate manual processes, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to contracting, forecasting, scenario planning, and governance.
  • Partner with digital, analytics, and data teams to modernize business processes and reporting capabilities.
  • Champion data-driven decision-making across Market Access and commercial functions.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to analysts and managers.
  • Lead special projects and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Support training and knowledge-sharing efforts across the Account Strategy & Planning organization.
