About The Position

La Jolla Group is a leading apparel management company seeking a temporary creative assistant apparel designer to support the design team across multiple brands. Deadline-driven performance is essential, along with strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with departments such as Product Development, Tech Design, and Production.

Requirements

  • Proficient in design software, including Adobe Creative Suites.
  • Working knowledge of both design and production processes, garment construction, fits, fabric, trim, and wash development.
  • Ability to work as a team player and take oral and written directions/critiques.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload, and organize daily activities.
  • Deadline-driven with excellent project management, time management, and a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work independently and meet all design deadlines.
  • Innovative, self-motivated, creative, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, small team environment.
  • Positive attitude with strong interpersonal and team-work dynamics.
  • Ability to present work to internal teams.
  • Strong eye for trend and color.
  • Skill in identifying and resolving problems.
  • AA or BFA in fashion-focused Design Degree.
  • 3-6 years of apparel design and product development experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create tech packs (technical sketches, CADs, BOMs, trims) in illustrator format with high proficiency.
  • Create, manipulate, and pitch prints, stripes, plaids, and graphics in illustrator format.
  • Organize the design department by filing and storing trims, fabric, submits, and samples for easy access by cross-functional teams.
  • Take meeting notes and communicate them to cross-functional teams.
  • Review vendor submits (lab-dips, strike-offs, handlooms, proto samples) and communicate comments to designers/product developers.
  • Assist in the daily design process across multiple seasons, brands, and product lifecycles, including online trend research, shopping, sketching in illustrator, fabric and trim selection and development, and fittings.
