About The Position

Under the general direction of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Academic Success, the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education provides academic, administrative, and organizational leadership for programs and initiatives within Undergraduate Education and Academic Success. The Associate Dean is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and integration of a portfolio of undergraduate education programs that advance equitable student success, academic achievement, belonging, high-impact learning, and students' successful transition into and through the University. The portfolio includes First-Year Experience, Honors, REACH Student Success Center, Civic Engagement, Undergraduate Research, Book in Common, and other programs or initiatives assigned by the Vice Provost. The Associate Dean directly supervises nine faculty leaders, managers, and professional staff and provides broader leadership for employees and student assistants working within the assigned programs. As a member of the UED leadership team, the Associate Dean partners with the Vice Provost to establish priorities, strengthen coordination and accountability, support program leaders, and align the portfolio with Academic Affairs and University priorities.

Requirements

  • Doctorate or appropriate terminal degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the work of Undergraduate Education or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education administration, academic affairs, student success, enrollment management, or a closely related field.
  • Direct experience in managing a unit.
  • Teaching, scholarly activity and service experience in the areas of student success, retention, and equity in higher education.
  • Experience supervising professional staff, faculty, or managers.
