About The Position

United Schools (United) is a nonprofit organization in Columbus, Ohio, established in 2008. It operates four high-performing public charter schools (two elementary and two middle schools) serving over 900 students, with a mission to transform lives and communities through education by closing the opportunity gap. United strives to provide a rigorous academic experience in a joyful learning environment, focusing on intentional student support and continuous improvement. The Associate Dean of Students (ADOS) is a key role in building a strong, positive, and joyful school culture. Working alongside the Dean of Students, the ADOS supports and coaches staff in creating effective classroom environments. This position is responsible for promoting positive behavior through planning school celebrations and events, engaging with students, families, and staff to address behavioral concerns, and maintaining accurate behavioral records. The ADOS also implements systems for improvement as needed, ultimately working to strengthen positive school culture and serve as a mentor for students.

Requirements

  • Holds a B.A./B.S. degree
  • Is committed to using data-driven instructional practices and the techniques outlined in Teach Like a Champion 3.0 to improve student outcomes
  • Is relentless in writing, refining, and internalizing curriculum, lessons, and assessments
  • Is open and committed to implementing frequent feedback from team members
  • Communicates effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Comfortability with Google products for effective communication and completion of job responsibilities

Nice To Haves

  • Has at least two years of successful teaching experience in an urban school
