This role involves summarizing, organizing, directing, coordinating, and promoting a unit within an academic or student services division, or a multifaceted academic/student services support function, or a single academic or student services program. The Associate Dean represents an expanded first-level administrator position, directing academic programs and/or services and reporting to a Dean or Vice President. This role may oversee a single program, career and technical education programs, or academic and student services of a non-degree nature. It can also involve presiding over multiple student services programs, ensuring strategic programmatic intersectionality. The Associate Dean title may also serve as part of a career growth and succession plan towards becoming a Dean.
