About The Position

Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is seeking an Associate Dean for its Nursing program. This role is crucial for shaping the division's success, growth, and future, with a direct influence on the professional development of faculty and students. The Associate Dean will serve as a leader for faculty in their teaching and service roles and is a full-time administrator. The Nursing Associate Dean is responsible for clarifying, communicating, and implementing the division’s vision, mission, guiding principles, goals, and expectations. This position acts as the primary spokesperson for assigned faculty and students, collaborating with college administration, peer institutions, the community, and prospective students on curriculum development, recruitment, and retention. The role requires proactively facilitating professional teamwork among faculty to achieve the division's mission and ensuring the best skills, knowledge, and attitudes are implemented collectively. The Associate Dean provides leadership, supervision, and management for Division personnel, and supervises and coordinates Division processes and procedures to ensure high-quality education and training for nursing students. They will mentor and guide full- and part-time nursing faculty, lab assistants, and staff. This position reports to the Dean of Health Sciences. Associate Deans are at-will employees and serve at the pleasure of the College president. Requirements

  • Masters Degree, from an accredited college or university in Nursing required.
  • An active and unencumbered nursing license in the state of Utah, or the ability to be licensed within 60 days of hire.
  • Minimum of three (3) years full-time, college-level teaching experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience working in a nursing discipline are required.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral Degree in nursing, from a college or university.
  • Prior experience with ACEN accreditation processes.
  • Prefer a macro-level leadership style that is open, honest, and a willingness to actively listen and follow through.
  • Successful experience writing grants.

Responsibilities
