About The Position

Under the general direction of the Dean, Noncredit and Adult Education, the Associate Dean, Noncredit Career Education (CE) and Special Programs provides leadership and administrative support for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of noncredit CE and special programs. The Associate Dean will collaborate with all District campuses and off-site locations on the development and implementation of programs. Additionally, the Associate Dean supports the District's mission of access, equity, and workforce preparation by ensuring high-quality, industry-aligned, and student-centered noncredit instructional programs that respond to community and regional workforce needs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • One (1) year of formal training or leadership experience related to the administrator’s administrative assignment.

  • Doctoral degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience administering noncredit and/or CE programs at a California community college.
  • Experience working with industry partners and workforce agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Dean in the administration and coordination of noncredit CE instructional programs, including short-term vocational training, workforce development, work experience, and industry-recognized credential programs.
  • Provides leadership in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of noncredit CE curriculum in compliance with Title 5 regulations, California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office guidelines, and Pasadena City College policies and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with employers, workforce boards, industry representatives, community organizations, and public agencies to support workforce alignment and job placement.
  • Assists or leads the development and implementation of A-G high school credit recovery programs and K-12 programming.
  • Supervises and evaluates assigned faculty, classified professionals, and support staff in accordance with PCC policies and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
  • Assists in the development and monitoring of budgets, grants, contracts, and special funding related to noncredit CE and workforce programs.
  • Prepares reports, program reviews, data analysis, and documentation required for internal planning, accreditation, and external agencies.
  • Supports scheduling, enrollment management, and instructional delivery to maximize access, efficiency, and student success.
  • Collaborates with faculty to support curriculum development, student learning outcomes assessment, and instructional quality.
  • Supports the development and coordination of work-based learning opportunities, including noncredit work experience and internships.
  • Collaborates with credit and noncredit counseling, admissions and records, student services, and workforce offices to support onboarding, retention, and transition pathways from noncredit to credit and employment.
  • Leads and implements activities related to noncredit CE state initiatives.
  • Participates in shared governance, college committees, regional consortia, and workforce initiatives as assigned.
  • Directly manages all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, transfers, suspensions, layoffs, recalls, promotions, terminations, task assignments, performance evaluations, rewards, disciplinary actions, and grievance resolution, ensuring adherence to District policies and legal requirements.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
