About The Position

The Associate Dean of Liberal Studies & the Arts assists the Division Dean in providing leadership, direction, and oversight of the LSA staff, full-time and adjunct faculty, and programs. This includes but is not limited to collaborating with the Dean and division faculty and staff to articulate a vision and strategic direction for both departments and the division; supporting the design, development, implementation, and assessment of all courses, programs, and co-curricular engagement activities; and facilitating external partnerships/opportunities associated with the disciplines housed within the division. This position involves some travel between Massasoit's Brockton and Canton campuses as well as the Middleborough instructional site. The Liberal Studies & the Arts Division is home to the visual and digital graphic arts; digital media arts center (DMAC); communicative arts; The Buckley Performing Arts Theatre; English, Philosophy and Journalism Department, the Academic ESOL Program; modern languages; and the social sciences. With the majority of general education classes housed within the division, LSA works closely with the Early College Program, expanding on courses offered to a variety of high schools and vocational partners. Both Phi Theta Kappa and the Commonwealth Honors Program are also part of the LSA Division.

Requirements

Master's degree in a related field to the division or a master's degree and administrative experience
Minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching at the college level
Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory/administrative experience
Demonstrated experience with grant writing and reporting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Terminal degree related to the division
Community college teaching and/or administrative experience.
Administrative experience in an academic leadership role.

Responsibilities

Assist Dean of Liberal Studies & the Arts with recruitment, orientation, and supervision of full-time and part-time faculty, professional staff, and student workers.
Assist with scheduling and staffing all courses for the division.
Adhere to all administration guidelines and deadlines of the Collective Bargaining Agreements.
Work in collaboration with the Dean and Early College Program to establish and support relationships with local high schools as well as develop and staff classes for training and transfer credits.
Support and collaborate with faculty on the inclusion of high impact practices.
Support faculty and professional staff in meeting professional development expectations.
Support the Dean with the day-to-day activities of faculty and students in the Division, including attempting to solve all first level student, faculty, and staff grievances, disciplinary issues, grading issues, waivers and student appeals, and room changes.
Curriculum support within the Division including the creation, revision, implementation, and/or removal of courses.
Assistance with development of a formative assessment plan that includes benchmarking at the completion of each semester; assist in the development of a plan that addresses issues identified by this assessment.
Provide leadership for faculty in designing and implementing yearly student learning outcome assessment activities as well as the use of enrollment and other data for program improvement
Analyze and use data effectively to inform course offerings and program development.
Assisting in the development and overseeing advisory boards for Division programs.
Develop and coordinate appropriate Divisional program accreditations and approvals as needed.
Support the reviews of academic programs as they occur in the program review process.
Demonstrate a commitment to the diversity and sustainability efforts of the College.
Collaborate with Division faculty and staff in establishing and implementing the Division's strategic plan.
Provide support to faculty and professional staff in the development of initiatives and activities that promote student success and help to meet expected program outcomes, as well as align with Massasoit's mission, vision, and values.
Collaborate with the Transfer Services team to establish transfer agreements with baccalaureate schools as well as comply with Mass Transfer programs standards.
Work with the Corporate and Community Education Division to create workshops, certificates, and non-credit courses as appropriate.
Serve on appropriate internal college-wide and external professional committees or taskforce groups.
Collaborate with the grant writing team in writing or reviewing grant proposals that will strengthen the Division or the College.
Willing to work evenings and weekends for special functions or to meet critical deadlines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
