JOB SUMMARY Teaching Associates will teach CAL 2970 and CAL 3970. They will also support the Liberal Studies program at the CSUSB-PDC campus to organize educational activities with other departments, organizations and entities in the community. TYPICAL ACTIVITIES Position involves all aspects of being the instructor of record for CAL 2970 and CAL 3970: preparing a syllabus and assignments, creating lessons and class activities, attending classes weekly for the duration of the semester, grading assignments, holding weekly office hours, and responding to student communication in a timely manner. Teaching Associates will also attend a pre-teaching orientation held before classes begin, typically in August each year. Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines. Requirements

  • Must be enrolled at CSUSB in a MA or EDD program degree in a field related to K-12 education or related to the interdisciplinary field of Liberal Arts.
  • Be enrolled in good standing as a classified graduate student in the M.A. or EDD program at CSUSB, or have been accepted to the program with a formal letter of acceptance in hand.
  • Maintain academic eligibility throughout the employment period (enrolled, with 3.5 GPA or higher).
  • Be available to teach courses at time assigned.
  • Accept responsibility and have the ability to relate well to others.
  • Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

  • Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued.
  • Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.
