About The Position

California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) is seeking an Associate Dean for the College of Natural and Social Sciences. This Administrator III position will report to the Dean and assist in all aspects of college administration and management. Key areas of responsibility include enrollment management, faculty and student development, research and economic development, curriculum oversight, innovation, and assessment. The Associate Dean will also support the Dean in outreach, public relations, grant writing, and securing outside funding. Additionally, this role involves coordinating transfer programs with community colleges and representing the College in the Dean's absence.

Requirements

  • Must be qualified to be a tenured full professor in a department or program within the Natural and Social Sciences disciplines.
  • Must possess a PhD or other terminal degree from an accredited college or university in a discipline or area represented within the College.
  • Must demonstrate significant and successful administrative experience.
  • Must demonstrate financial acumen.
  • Must demonstrate proven leadership skills.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Must possess excellent administrative skills.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and cooperative working relationships with administrators, faculty, and staff.
  • An ability and/or interest in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.
  • Background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily.
  • Must reside in the State of California.
  • Must comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 revised July 21, 2017, as a condition of employment (mandated reporter).
