Requirements

  • Master’s degree in an academic discipline offered by the College required.
  • 5 years minimum of College-level teaching experience is required.
  • Supervisory/managerial experience is required.
  • Utilizes standard office equipment, including computers, in order to perform the duties of the job.
  • This position requires a background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Provide service and administrative support for adjunct/part-time faculty and full-time faculty throughout Academic Affairs.
  • Provide leadership and management in the areas of adjunct faculty recruitment, orientation, training and development, and classroom observations.
  • Function in collaboration with the Associate Vice President for the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence to ensure consistency and continuity for quality service, support, and communications to all faculty throughout Academic Affairs.
  • Provide administrative leadership expertise and managerial support for the development and implementation of effective and efficient services and support for adjunct/part-time faculty teaching credit and noncredit classes across the College which includes all types of instructional delivery modes and all COD locations.
  • Orient, evaluate, supervise, and encourage professional development of adjunct faculty and assigned staff.
  • Serve on faculty and administrative committees and participate in appropriate speaking engagements, conferences, recruitment, student and faculty events.
  • Provide leadership and management to design and deliver an orientation program, using multiple delivery modes, for all new adjunct/part-time faculty in consultation with the Divisions, the Office of Academic Affairs, Human Resources and other units of the College; also provide appropriate administrative communications and updates to all continuing adjunct/part-time faculty across the College.
  • Partner with the Associate Vice President to develop, implement, and continuously refine the College's Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy in support of institutional priorities, student success, employee development, and workforce innovation.
  • Work closely with the Academic Deans, Associate Deans, Coordinators, and Program Specialists to support adjunct/part time faculty to ensure quality instruction and service to all students enrolled in classes taught by adjunct/part-time faculty.
  • Provide administrative assistance for recruiting and screening qualified adjunct/part-time faculty applicants for the review and approval by the appropriate Dean.
  • Design and coordinate the delivery of professional development programs tailored to the professional needs, interests, and schedules of adjunct/part-time, and full-time faculty, in consultation with the Divisions, the Office of Academic Affairs, the Employee Development Center and other units of the College.
  • Provide managerial support for implementing a systematic, effective and efficient approach for evaluating the performance of all adjunct/part-faculty including timely and meaningful feedback to the appropriate Deans, Associate Deans, Division Chairs, Discipline Chairs, Coordinators, and Program Specialists as well as to the individual faculty members.
  • Partner with the Interdisciplinary Faculty Chair of Professional Development to provide full-time and adjunct/part-time faculty development opportunities, and develop in-service professional development sessions.
  • Serve on College committees and attend meetings of the Academic Administrators as requested.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of and consistently applies the collective bargaining agreements with the College of DuPage Adjunct Association (CODAA) and the College of DuPage Faculty Association (CODFA) in accordance with College policies and procedures.
  • Effectively manages direct reports assigned in the Adjunct Faculty Support department.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by the Associate Vice President Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence.
