About The Position

AssetMark is seeking an Associate Data Steward to support data governance activities and ensure the quality, integrity, and security of organizational data. In this entry-level role, you will learn organizational data governance policies, participate in training and awareness programs, and support data quality monitoring and metadata management tasks. You will work under the guidance of senior team members to apply data governance standards, support data documentation, and understand business processes and their data usage. We can only consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Charlotte, NC office.

Requirements

  • Strong business and data analysis skills and be able to understand and document complex business processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with ability to analyze datasets and problem-solve.
  • Willingness to learn data governance tools, technologies, and business processes.
  • Experience in writing queries with varying architecture in SQL and SQL Server 2008 R2.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and seek guidance as needed.
  • Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, demanding and dynamic work environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Data Science, Computer Science, Finance) or other certifications are preferred.
  • 0–1 years of experience in data stewardship, data governance, analytics, or related roles.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply organizational data governance policies and participate in governance training.
  • Assist with data quality monitoring, issue identification, and documentation of stewardship activities.
  • Support data documentation and metadata management tasks.
  • Participate in user training and contribute to team knowledge sharing activities.
  • Complete governance tasks following established procedures and document activities for compliance and audit.
  • Work collaboratively with other data teams and internal business to develop an understanding of business processes, data relationships, and data literacy.
