About The Position

We’re hiring an Associate Data QA Engineer to join our Data Engineering/TechOps organization and learn alongside experienced engineers in a modern healthcare data platform environment. You’ll help validate, analyze, and deliver high-quality client data outputs—building foundational skills in data engineering, data quality, and SQL while contributing to real client implementations. This is an early-career opportunity designed for recent graduates who are excited to build a foundation in data engineering, healthcare data, and client-facing delivery. As a trusted partner to the team, you will support client adoption of Abacus’s data management offerings while developing hands-on experience in data analysis, mapping, SQL, data quality, and cloud-based data services. We welcome applications from new graduates, including candidates currently authorized to work in the United States under F-1 Optional Practical Training (OPT). Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire. Location: Pacific Time Zone preferred. Candidates outside PST must be able to work core hours aligned to Pacific Time.

Requirements

  • Interest in healthcare data and curiosity about how data moves through pipelines and platforms.
  • Ability to write SQL queries for analysis, profiling, validation, and basic performance tuning.
  • Analytical, problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn new tools/approaches.
  • Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organization skills and comfort juggling multiple tasks/priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to cloud platforms and modern data engineering tooling (e.g., PySpark/Databricks concepts).
  • Familiarity with Snowflake or cloud data warehouses/services.
  • Prior internship/project experience working with large datasets, ETL/ELT, or data quality testing concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with clients and implementation teams to understand data distribution needs and expected outputs.
  • Perform data analysis, data mapping, and validation of client deliverables.
  • Build and maintain data extract scripts with guidance from senior engineers; troubleshoot and improve performance.
  • Join client and internal team meetings to understand requirements, context, and timelines.
  • Contribute to process improvements, documentation, and workflow efficiency within a collaborative engineering culture.
