As an Associate Data Engineer, you will support the development and operation of basic data pipelines that help ensure accurate, reliable data movement between systems.

Requirements

  • Foundational data engineering skills, including basic SQL, scripting, data modelling, and understanding of data structures and relationships.
  • Ability to support basic ETL and ELT processes, including data ingestion, transformation, integration, and pipeline monitoring under guidance.
  • Exposure to modern data tools and platforms such as Snowflake, DBT, FiveTran, Boomi, and API-based integrations.
  • Attention to data quality, including profiling datasets, identifying errors, applying validation checks, and following data security practices.
  • Willingness to learn enterprise data standards, governance practices, metadata management, and engineering best practices while escalating complex issues appropriately.
  • Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a diploma or degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years in data development, ETL support, or a related technical co-op or internship.
  • Basic SQL and scripting, data modelling fundamentals, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn.

  • Exposure to Cooke’s data pipelines, integration tools such as DBT, FiveTran, and Boomi, and an understanding of enterprise data standards and quality expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Build and test basic data pipelines under supervision using standard tools and SDLC frameworks.
  • Extract, transform, and load data from source systems following established design patterns.
  • Monitor daily data flows and troubleshoot errors or failed jobs.
  • Maintain and document datasets, workflows, and integration processes.
  • Escalate complex issues or data anomalies to senior engineers or architects.
