This position assesses clients at start of treatment (reviews as needed), develops and maintains treatment plans, and conducts family collateral and discharge planning. Duties include discussing goals and objectives of proposed treatment plans and establishing a contract with the consumer. Interviewing consumers to team with mental health professionals in determining the needs of individuals or groups on a walk-in/telephone basis; respond to potential suicide or other emergency events. Visit clients, individually or as part of a team, in a variety of living situations, to help assess the mental health needs of individuals and families, observe progress, provide counseling, gather data, and report significant changes in the client's condition to designated professional staff. The Valley Star Crisis Walk-In Center (CWIC) is voluntary and offered on a 24/7 basis in an unlocked setting with a stay of up to 23 hours. It provides rapid mental health assessment and crisis intervention for all age groups – children, adolescents, adults, and older adults – who need immediate access to crisis mental health services. The center provides important services to those in need of immediate crisis intervention and stabilization. Individuals admitted into the crisis stabilization unit will be provided with support and services to ensure their safe transition to the next level of care or back to the community.

Requirements

  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Applicants must have attained the age of 18 years of age
  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or another related mental health field
  • Registered with the Board of Behavioral Science as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) or Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW)
  • First Aid certification from persons qualified by agencies including but not limited to the American Red Cross
