About The Position

This role is for an Associate Creative Director-Art at Area23, focusing on creative ideation, executional craft, cross-functional collaboration, client management, strategic thinking, team management, business management, and new business development. The position requires a strong understanding of advertising principles, visual communication, and the ability to lead and mentor creative teams. The candidate will be responsible for translating abstract concepts into compelling designs, managing projects, and fostering positive client relationships.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Visual Communications, Graphic Design, Art Direction and Design or related field.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT, Teams) or equivalent.
  • Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Superior art direction aptitude (concepting, creative tools/systems, execution).
  • Strong presentation ability.
  • Strong leadership & people management ability.
  • Strong ability to implement strategic thinking & problem solving.
  • Strong Knowledge of art and design principles across channels and media.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Strong financial management and resourcing acumen.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Visual Communications, Graphic Design, Art and Design or related field is preferred.
  • 0+ years of experience in Pharmaceutical/Healthcare advertising is preferred.
  • Comprehensive digital portfolio demonstrating creative ability is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop smart, single-minded ideas that are unique and deliver on strategy in collaboration with creative and strategy partners.

  • Grow existing brands and participate in new business to generate additional revenue.
  • Partner with Account, Senior Creative Management, & Clients in development/presentation of brand personality, positioning, and creative briefs across multiple brands.
  • Take abstract concepts and empower project teams to create cutting-edge concepts or designs that are user-friendly, representative of the client's goals, and within brand guidelines.
  • Set priorities, approve visual materials, and manage workloads within Art/Copy team so that assignments are completed within agreed-upon time frames.
  • Participate in client reviews, presenting & defending creative direction in a collaborative manner, while responding and incorporating feedback.
  • Collaborate with production, ensuring quality work that is completed as designed, on time, without error and on budget.
  • Manage and carry out photo shoots, Computer-generated Imagery, illustrators, video and film production, with assistance from reports.
  • Clearly communicate with vendors/artists to make sure the art is produced at a high standard.
  • Maintain a positive and solutions-oriented approach with various agency departments including Editorial, Account, Strategy, and Project Management.
  • Communicate effectively across various departments to align in creative vision, deadlines, revisions, and quality control.
  • Partner closely with Copy team to contribute and execute creative approaches to communicate brand personality and messages for both the overall campaign and individual materials.
  • Suggest and implement new ideas/operational efficiencies to improve cross-team ways of working.
  • Maintain strong relationship with client partners through demonstrated creative ability and active communication.
  • Partner with clients to understand brand, messaging, & creative vision.
  • Professionally and tactfully manage client expectations, timelines, and requests.
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of assigned brand(s), treatment category and competitive landscape.
  • Work with account and creative senior management to develop and advocate for overall marketing strategies.
  • Participate & co-lead strategic and tactical meetings.
  • Communicate ideas thoughtfully & succinctly.
  • Directly supervise art directors, senior art directors, and art supervisors on brand(s), and mentor/guide copy team as needed.
  • Responsible for hiring, staffing, career development, and full life-cycle talent management for direct team (e.g. delivering feedback, annual reviews, general and performance management).
  • Demonstrate leadership, empathy and professionalism in communications.
  • Ensure Art/Copy team members are billable & fully utilized to increase productivity and efficiency.
  • Partner with Creative Resourcing to determine scopes, billability, and acquire freelance support as needed.
  • Participate in creative pitch concepting & executional efforts to successfully grow new business.
  • Evaluate opportunities and participate in the growth efforts of existing brands.
