Requirements

Juris Doctor or LL.M degree
NY Bar
At least 5+ years of experience with background in public contracting, infrastructure projects, bidding, or procurement (whether in a government role, in-house, or with a law firm) strongly preferred
Prior experience directly advising clients on complex matters
Solid experience in balancing business needs and risk
Fluency with legal research tools, MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and proficiency in MS Excel
Analytical skills and ability to develop reasoning independently
Brilliant writing skills - ability to craft compelling and persuasive narratives and draft favorable agreements without legalese
Eagerness to learn and think creatively
Strong interpersonal awareness
Meticulous attention to detail
Adept at managing multiple deadlines and competing demands, and adjusting to rapidly changing priorities
Engendering trust through honesty, friendliness and professionalism
Tolerant of ambiguity when the best answer is not obvious, and eager to learn and find practical solutions

Responsibilities

Draft and negotiate a wide range of construction and commercial contracts
Draft corporate documents, joint venture, and partnership agreements
Work with the legal team to advise senior-level executives on legal, operational, compliance and regulatory risk and corporate governance matters
Develop and implement strategies across the organization to improve our legal processes and reduce risk
Develop strategies for resolving disputes and claims, supervise outside counsel on litigation, and represent OHLA in mediations as client representative
Develop deep relationships with our construction project teams and key business partners
Tour our projects throughout the region and assist project staff as necessary
