About The Position

The role of the Associate Counsel is to provide legal advice and support on a wide range of matters for the Hoffman Family of Companies, including, but not limited to, commercial contracts and transactions, contract management, employment, compliance, litigation, and general corporate matters. This position would primarily support Hoffman subsidiary company Hoffman Building Technologies, Inc. This position would report to the General Counsel and would be a part of the Hoffman legal team, playing a key role in risk management and legal strategies. Prior experience as an in-house/corporate attorney is not required, but a plus, and training will be provided by the Hoffman legal team.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and an active member in good standing with a State Bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years of legal experience preferred but will also consider entry-level law school graduates.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey legal concepts.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Motivated, proactive and responsive.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong judgment.
  • Negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Trustworthy, approachable and dependable.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in corporate law and contracts is a plus.
  • Experience working in the construction industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all levels of contract management, including intake, processing, review, negotiation and execution.
  • Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of corporate matters, including contracts, employment law, regulatory compliance, and legal disputes.
  • Manage and advise not only on customer contracts, but also on subcontractor agreements, vendor contracts, non-disclosure agreements, real property leases and employee contracts.
  • Manage and mitigate company risk by assisting in development, implementation and/or maintenance of appropriate corporate policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate across departments to align business and legal objectives.
  • Manage and resolve contract disputes, consulting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard contract templates.
  • Assist with other legal and contract administration tasks, as needed.
