About The Position

L-H Battery Company, Inc is seeking a motivated and pragmatic attorney with 3+ years of experience to join our Legal Department as Counsel. This position will primarily support the Company’s Purchasing and Supply Chain functions through review, drafting, and negotiation of commercial agreements of moderate complexity, while also serving as a generalist legal advisor across the organization. This role offers broad exposure to operational, regulatory, and strategic matters within a growing manufacturing company and is ideal for an attorney seeking significant responsibility and direct client engagement.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • 3+ years of experience as a practicing attorney (law firm or in-house).
  • Must be admitted to the practice of law in Ohio and in good standing with the Supreme Court of Ohio, or be eligible for immediate admission without examination (on motion) or via UBE score transfer.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Exposure to manufacturing, supply chain, or industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with labor & employment, regulatory compliance, or operational legal issues.
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders.
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
  • Practical, risk-balanced business judgment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of ownership, accountability, and discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as day-to-day legal support for the Purchasing and Supply Chain functions.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, master service agreements, supply agreements, NDAs, and logistics agreements of moderate complexity.
  • Assist business stakeholders in understanding contract terms and practical risk implications.
  • Support the development and refinement of contract templates and negotiation playbooks.
  • Provide clear, practical, business-oriented legal advice in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Provide general legal support across operational matters, including employment-related issues, EHS matters, immigration, workers’ compensation coordination, logistics, utilities, and real estate matters of moderate complexity.
  • Assist with corporate governance matters, including board materials and corporate formalities.
  • Support product liability risk management and other legal considerations as products enter the market.
  • Collaborate with outside counsel where more complex or specialized expertise is required.
  • Assist in managing disputes and pre-litigation matters.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel on litigation and regulatory matters under the supervision of the managing attorney.
  • Support internal stakeholders with document preservation and information gathering when needed.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of legal training to business teams.
  • Assist in updating and implementing company policies and compliance initiatives.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve legal processes and risk mitigation practices.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned in support of the Company’s legal and operational needs.
