About The Position

GEICO is looking to hire an Associate Counsel to defend lawsuits filed in New Jersey courts and other first party insurance defense. The position is with GEICO Staff Counsel located in West Orange, NJ. The role involves researching laws, preparing legal briefs and opinions, rendering opinions on liability and damages, and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery. The Associate Counsel will also be responsible for preparing for and conducting depositions, examinations under oath, and defending assigned matters through trial or dispositive hearing.

Requirements

2 to 6+ years of experience in litigation experience in insurance defense and/or personal injury REQUIRED
Juris Doctor degree REQUIRED
Admission to the New Jersey Bar REQUIRED
Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in New Jersey and meet and maintain licensing requirements including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements where applicable
Must be able to travel as required, including but not limited, to attend trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings and conferences
Must be able to communicate in a professional manner in person, via telephone and written correspondence/email

Responsibilities
