About The Position

Tanger is seeking an Associate Counsel I - Legal Leasing to join their team. The Associate Counsel I - Leasing will draft, review, and negotiate leases and other legal documents for every department of the Company, perform legal research, and interpret existing legal documents to determine the legal rights and obligations of the Company.

Requirements

  • J.D. from accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in one state
  • 0-4 years of drafting and negotiating retail space leases
  • Ability to demonstrate sufficient computer skills that allow employee to use, in a proficient manner, all company issued software programs (Microsoft: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Office 365, Internet browser programs, Workday)

Responsibilities

  • Draft and Negotiate Lease Related Documents
  • Work with senior level counsel and other senior members of Legal department to review document requests, verify inconsistencies, prepare documents, gather information, research and incorporate prior negotiated language, review tenant comments/requests, discuss business points with leasing representatives, negotiate open business and legal points with tenant’s legal contact, and revise documents based on negotiations.
  • Review tenant executed documents to ensure form and content reflect negotiations and approvals and commence document execution process.
  • Draft and Negotiate Non-Lease Related and Lease Management Documents
  • Work with senior level counsel and other senior members of Legal department to review requests for legal documents, clarify scope of projects, prepare or revise documents, negotiate open business and legal points with the other party’s legal contact, and obtain appropriate internal approvals.
  • Revised documents based on negotiations and direction from department representative and legal management.
  • Review executed documents to ensure form and content reflects negotiations and approvals and commence document execution process.
