About The Position

This position provides legal support for a wide variety of commercial transactions, with a focus on software, artificial intelligence, other technology matters, and business counseling for Global Streaming businesses, including Peacock and international projects powered by the Peacock platform. The role reports to the division’s Vice President. The Associate Counsel independently drafts, reviews, negotiates, and interprets contracts and other legal documents, including software and technology licenses and professional services agreements supporting Peacock and other Global Streaming and Media Group properties, such as NBC and Bravo apps and websites. The role also advises on emerging issues in technology transactions, including generative AI; coordinates with Privacy, Information Security, and Product Counseling teams; and provides practical legal advice on risks and issues. The position includes special projects such as training client teams, monitoring legal and technology developments related to digital media and platforms, and partnering with business executives and Law Department colleagues to develop best practices and processes. Additional matters may be assigned by the division’s Vice President. The role currently follows a hybrid schedule requiring work from the New York, NY office at least four days per week, with willingness to work nights and weekends if needed.

Requirements

Member of the New York bar or another U.S. state bar.
JD or LLM degree from an accredited law school.
At least 2 years of relevant legal experience.
Experience in digital media, new media, or online platforms, including a thorough understanding of and demonstrated proficiency with technology agreements.
Solid academic credentials.
Outstanding analytical, communication, and organizational skills, including excellent drafting and negotiation abilities.
Collaborative, team-oriented approach.
Comfort making legal decisions and advising on business risks.
Sound business judgment and flexibility to manage multiple priorities, conflicting deadlines, and evolving areas of expertise.
Ability to proactively identify, prioritize, and resolve legal issues quickly and effectively.
Ability to approach complex legal matters thoughtfully, analytically, and with practical judgment.
Ability to explain complex legal concepts to business and creative executives, build consensus across business units, think creatively, and collaborate with stakeholders.
Willingness to work nights and weekends if needed.

Responsibilities

Independently draft, review, negotiate, and interpret contracts and other legal documents, including software and technology licenses and professional services agreements.
Provide legal support for the Peacock service and other Global Streaming and Media Group properties, including NBC and Bravo apps and websites.
Negotiate and counsel clients on emerging issues in technology transactions, including generative AI.
Conduct special projects, such as training client teams.
Coordinate with Privacy and Information Security teams to ensure personal data and confidential information are collected, used, and secured in accordance with law and company policy.
Coordinate with the Product Counseling team to provide an integrated approach to product risks and contract terms.
Provide timely, thoughtful legal advice on potential risks and issues, and propose practical, responsive solutions.
Maintain awareness of developments in law and technology related to digital media and platforms.
Partner with NBCUniversal business executives and Law Department colleagues to discuss and implement best practices and formulate processes in response to business needs.
Handle other matters as needed at the direction of the division’s Vice President.
