About The Position

Reporting to a Director or Sr Lead, Corporate Development, the Associate, Corporate Development supports the evaluation and execution of strategic growth opportunities across Capital Power’s generation, renewables, storage, and emerging technologies portfolio in North America. This role plays a key supporting role in transaction analysis, valuation, and due diligence, working closely with senior team members and cross‑functional partners to advance disciplined, value‑accretive investments. It is an excellent opportunity for an early‑ to mid‑career professional to build hands‑on experience in corporate development and M&A within the power and energy sector.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, project finance, management consulting, or commercial strategy.
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, including DCF analysis and scenario analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analysis into actionable insights.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to M&A, joint ventures, or infrastructure investments is an asset.
  • Experience in power, energy, utilities, infrastructure, or renewables is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the evaluation of acquisition, investment, and partnership opportunities.
  • Building and maintaining detailed financial models, valuation analyses, and scenario sensitivities.
  • Analyzing commercial, financial, and risk considerations to support investment decisions.
  • Preparing clear, well‑structured analysis and summary materials for internal review.
  • Supporting the coordination of due diligence activities across Finance, Legal, Operations, Strategy, Regulatory, and external advisors.
  • Reviewing diligence materials and identifying key commercial and financial risks.
  • Assisting with transaction documentation, schedules, and tracking of deliverables.
  • Supporting execution activities through to transaction close.
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to gather inputs, test assumptions, and validate analysis.
  • Supporting knowledge sharing, process improvements, and best practices within the Corporate Development team.
