About The Position

We are seeking an Associate Corporate Counsel to join our Legal team reporting directly to the General Counsel. This role will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and play an active role in shaping the Company's legal, regulatory, and risk management strategy.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor required
  • Bar membership in New Jersey
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in litigation, collections, claims management, and insurance coverage.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use contract management systems and other technology tools.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and competing priorities with attention to detail, sound judgment, and professionalism.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with commercial litigation, collections, insurance coverage, equipment leasing, secured transactions, or related financial services matters.
  • Ability to provide practical, business-focused legal advice in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, outside counsel, insurers, and senior leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound professional judgment, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage litigation, claims and collections as well as supporting corporate, regulatory and operational legal matters.
  • Advise senior leadership on material exposures, litigation strategy, insurance, and indemnification matters, while providing practical, strategic guidance for a dynamic equipment leasing business.
  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements, settlement agreements, releases, confidentiality agreements, and other documents to support business operations.
  • Research and analyze litigation, collection matters, insurance, and commercial activity, providing clear recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Manage outside counsel, insurers, internal business partners, and other third parties.
  • Identify legal and regulatory issues, assist with policy development, and partner with business teams to implement strategic decisions.
  • Maintain accurate legal matter files, documentation, reports, and tracking tools to support timely follow-up and effective matter management.
  • Partner with internal departments to provide day-to-day legal support, respond to business questions, and escalate issues requiring more senior review.
  • Monitor changes in applicable laws, regulations, and industry practices that may affect business operations, claims handling, collections, or compliance obligations.
  • Participate in meetings, training, and cross-functional projects as needed to support legal, operational, compliance, and risk management objectives.
