About The Position

The Associate Consultant role at HUB is a hands-on, client-facing position focused on managing day-to-day project work, contributing to client solutions, and supporting both junior team members and senior leadership. You’ll work on valuations, renewals, RFPs, and deliverables while interpreting legislation and maintaining strong client relationships. The role also includes mentoring juniors, peer reviewing work, and participating in client presentations. It’s ideal for someone with strong analytical, communication, and project management skills who’s looking to deepen their technical knowledge and take on more ownership of client work. It offers opportunities to lead initiatives, develop project plans, and provide strategic insights.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of experience in group insurance
  • University degree in either Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Business
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Highly organized, proactive, adaptable, and self-driven
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Progress toward or attainment of FSA and FCIA designations
  • Familiarity with accounting standards for post-retirement benefit plans

Responsibilities

  • Support consultants and vice presidents in managing and strengthening client relationships
  • Ensure quality control and alignment with service standards
  • Assist with financial analyses and strategic insurer negotiations during renewals
  • Review and ensure accuracy and compliance of financial statements, contracts, and marketing materials
  • Contribute to the development of market specifications and analyze insurer proposals
  • Play an active role in insurer selection processes
  • Support actuarial evaluations related to post-retirement and employment benefit plans (excluding pension plans)
  • Conduct research on group insurance topics in collaboration with team members
  • Assist in preparing materials and documentation for client and insurer meetings
  • Help define project budgets, timelines, and deliverables
  • Stay informed about other service areas across the firm to ensure integrated support
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development; share knowledge to support team growth
  • Contribute to internal initiatives that promote innovation and team engagement
  • Stay current with provincial and federal legislative changes
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices, sharing relevant insights with clients and colleagues
