About The Position

Puget Sound Energy is looking for an Associate Construction Accounting Analyst to support new customer construction project teams with accounting, billing, and financial responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle. This role creates and maintains orders and notifications to ensure the accurate recording of financial transactions related to construction projects. Under the guidance of senior staff, the Analyst monitors, analyzes, and resolves accounting discrepancies to maintain financial accuracy and integrity. The Analyst partners closely with project management teams to facilitate the efficient flow of construction projects through PSE's internal project management system. This role ensures compliance with WUTC (Washington Utilities & Transportation Commission) rates and tariffs, company accounting policies, and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) controls throughout all financial processes. Requirements

  • Associate's degree in accounting, business, construction management, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in construction services or related field.
  • Knowledge of utility operations, construction, and accounting.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple responsibilities to meet plans and goals.
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to present information in a professional manner and influence without authority.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite including Excel and Microsoft Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or construction management.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment in analyzing (such as reading and interpreting blue prints or FERC accounting) and identifying solutions to complex issues that arise.
  • Proficient with BW (Business Warehouse) and SAP.
  • Experience contributing to process improvements.
  • Experience developing ad hoc reporting with minimal assistance.
  • Previous work experience in the gas and/or electric utility industry.

Responsibilities

  • Supports construction accounting activities and oversight for the regional project management team.
  • Creates, monitors, and edits work orders in SAP.
  • Creates and maintains accurate technical master data.
  • Interprets construction project scopes to ensure compliance with company accounting policies, and line extension tariffs and schedules.
  • Generates customer billing by creating accurate and timely non-consumption contract accounts, sales contracts, and other sales documents in SAP.
  • Audits facility agreements for pricing and customer data accuracy.
  • Supports the resolution of issues related to accounting, SOX controls, and tariff interpretation. Works with service providers to resolve blocked billing issues.
  • Performs accounting functions such as journal entries.
  • Performs monthly problem order review and order clean-up functions.
  • Researches and resolves data and accounting problems.
  • Communicates with peers, customers, and management to ensure proper financial and accounting practices.
  • Develops ad hoc reporting on an as needed basis.
  • Supports the development of system and process improvements and solutions.
  • Participates in emergency response efforts as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
