About The Position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for an Associate Computer Security Engineer – Cloud, Cyber Security (Hybrid) opportunity to support the Savannah River Site. This role involves assisting with the investigation, design, and development of software and/or hardware security technologies. The engineer will support the security of SRS resources by designing, implementing, and evaluating measures tied to the NIST Core Cyber Framework: Identify, Detect, Respond and Recover. A primary responsibility is safety, including obtaining safety training, obeying safety rules, and integrating safety into all tasks. The role includes working with vendors to develop technical solutions, maintaining the integrity of computer workstations, servers, and networks through access controls and software lifecycle processes, and ensuring data integrity and confidentiality through encryption and data retention technologies. Continuous learning through specialized training, manuals, journals, seminars, and practical experience is expected. The position also requires ensuring site/company policies and procedures align with customer requirements and are evaluated for effectiveness and proper implementation.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in an IT related discipline (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Technology. Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering); or Non-related Bachelor degree with 2 years proven performance in related assignment(s); or Associate Degree in IT related discipline (e.g. Information Technology, Computer Technology, Software Engineering, Non-related Associate Degree with 4 years proven performance in related assignment(s).
• In lieu of degree, a high school diploma with at least 6 years of equivalent knowledge and experience is acceptable.
• Knowledge of computer and network digital systems used in business or process applications.
• Detailed knowledge in specific operating systems is desirable.
• Must be able to participate in group problem solving including communicating effectively with both technical and nontechnical personnel, respect the ideas of others and accept the judgment of the group.
• Must be familiar with available resource materials and be able to conduct timely research.
• Must have a sense of when to ask for help and be comfortable in accepting guidance from other more senior technical personnel.
• Strong written communication and composition skills.
• Familiarity with cloud security concepts or compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, RMF, or NIST SP 800-series.
• Knowledge of basic cybersecurity principles, protections, or frameworks (e.g., NIST).
• Demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies, frameworks, and regulatory environments.
• Ability to conduct thorough research and synthesize findings.
• Ability to work on-site with limited teleworking options.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

• Ability to think critically and provide actionable guidance to technical or compliance-based challenges
• Educational or work-related experience with Microsoft cloud services (Azure, M365, etc.) or other major SaaS platforms.
• Possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years
