About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) Designer to join our dynamic and growing Industrial design team. In this role, you will work closely with senior designers and cross-functional teams to develop and execute color, material, and finish strategies for our products. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with a keen eye for color and texture, as well as a strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes. You will contribute to all stages of the design process, from concept development to CMF strategy and product implementation for production, ensuring that our products elevate the user experience and drive consumer satisfaction. The Ninja Design Team is a team of Industrial Designers, UI/UX and CMF Designers working on products across the brand and categories.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Industrial Design, Interaction Design, or related discipline
  • 1-3 years of experience in color, material, and finish design, preferably in consumer electronics
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, KeyShot, and SolidWorks
  • Strong understanding of color theory, trend forecasts, and manufacturing processes
  • Strong analytical thinking that leads to creative solutions and innovative ideas
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of aesthetics and craftsmanship
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale effectively
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Portfolio showcasing relevant CMF design work and process documentation required

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design team and cross-functional team members to develop CMF concepts that align with our product design goals and brand identity.
  • Conduct research on emerging trends in color, material, and finish design to inform design decisions.
  • Create mood boards, color palettes, material samples, and finish samples to communicate design concepts to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to source and evaluate materials and finishes for feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
  • Generate detailed specifications and documentation for CMF selections to ensure accurate implementation during production.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on CMF-related aspects of product designs.
  • Support the development of prototypes and samples to validate CMF concepts and make refinements as needed.
  • Maintain organized records of CMF samples, materials, and finishes for reference and future projects.
  • Stay up-to-date on advancements in materials, color theory, and manufacturing technologies relevant to CMF design.
