About The Position

This is a full-time, temporary, benefit-based position with an anticipated end date of January 31, 2027. The appointment is renewable at the discretion of the University and dependent upon performance and continued funding. The Associate Clinician will be responsible for providing direct clinical services to a caseload of 20-25 clients, delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions, and supporting clients through their mental health journey. This role involves working closely with veterans and their families, offering individualized care and maintaining a high standard of clinical practice.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Current registration as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC), or Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting, including direct case management responsibilities.
  • Certification or documented proficiency in one or more of the following EBP’s: PE, CBT and CPT is required.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
  • Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in telemental health platforms and a solid understanding of veteran-specific needs.
  • Empathetic, detail-oriented, and committed to providing high-quality care.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge in DSM-V-TR diagnoses.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice, including targeted, evidence-based treatment modalities and measurement-based care.
  • Experience in PTSD diagnosis and treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual therapy to a caseload of 20-25 clients, including veterans and their families.
  • Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to clients’ needs and goals.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand clients’ mental health needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, monitor progress, and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and any other required documentation in accordance with clinic policies and regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with other clinical staff, including supervisors and colleagues, to coordinate care and ensure a holistic approach to treatment.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and other collaborative activities.
  • Provide support and intervention during clinical crises, including risk assessment and management.
  • Develop and implement crisis management plans as needed.
  • Engage in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in telemental health and clinical care.
  • Seek supervision and feedback to enhance clinical skills and effectiveness.
