About The Position

Our Parsons Corporation San Diego office has an exciting new opportunity for an Associate Civil Transportation Engineer to work with design engineering of road & highway systems supporting Caltrans, City of San Diego, and County of San Diego primarily for public works transportation projects in the San Diego area. You will perform a variety of engineering tasks by applying basic engineering techniques and analyses within one discipline. The Engineer at this level is in a developmental mode, being trained under close supervision in the utilization of engineering theories and practices, and gaining exposure to Company procedures. Assignment may be to a structured rotational program which would include experience in Project Controls, Procurement, and Construction Management, as well as through several disciplines in Engineering. Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations is expected. This position is open to new graduates from a Civil Engineering Degree program. Remote hybrid work allowed for this position (meaning ability to work from home 1-2 days per week).

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)
  • Work experience with transportation systems design(EIT) is highly desirable.
  • Previous internship experience for new graduates is highly desirable.
  • Previous internships in transportation engineering is a plus.
  • EIT is a plus, but not required.
  • Security Clearance Requirement: None

Responsibilities

  • Will utilize Microstation and/or Autocad Civil 3D CAD software to perform geometric alignments for road, highway, and other transportation projects in Southern California.
  • Performs various engineering and design assignments requiring the application of basic principles and fundamental theories studied in a four-year university engineering program, and available data in the engineering field.
  • Prepares or assists in preparing fundamental engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
  • Assists in the preparation of detailed requisitions for material purchase, services, and subcontracts.
  • Under the guidance of a more senior engineer, assists in reviewing supplier drawing submittits and technical bid analyses.
  • Assists in the preparation and issuance of specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
  • Provides input to CAD Designer/Drafters working on the same project.
