About The Position

Our Transmission Line Engineering Team will take an active role in the design and analysis of high voltage and extra high voltage electric transmission lines on the Eversource Energy Transmission System. The position is within the Eversource Transmission Line Engineering group; responsibilities include the development and preparation of drawings, specifications, reports and estimates for transmission capital project work, maintenance support and other analyses as needed. There will be extensive use of the Power Line Systems software packages including PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole and TOWER; L-Pile; MFAD; EPRI EMF Workstation, Math CAD, AutoCAD and others. Individual will have interaction with Transmission System Planning, Siting & Permitting, Project Management, Real Estate and other functional areas within the Transmission Business. Some efforts will require cooperation with vendor resources, and as such, teamwork and communication skills are vital to this position. Individual will be involved with studies and may provide or support testimony with the Connecticut Siting Council, the Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board and other regulatory agencies for national and regional energy policy.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years related experience is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity in both inside as well as outside the scope of typical responsibility.
  • Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities; decisions may affect the operations or results of the work group and may have some impact on major projects or department results.
  • Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Conducts engineering and related studies; completes non-routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with the ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; possesses and applies the fundamental engineering concepts, practices and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies necessary to handle assignments of increasing complexity.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintains accurate records and files.
  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
  • Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment. This means you may be called to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities, work hours and location.
