About The Position

As the Associate Category Manager with the Services Procurement team, you’ll be responsible for category strategy development with a long-term commercial plan. This will include strategic sourcing, negotiation, contracting, supplier and stakeholder relationship management across a subset of the Professional Services categories. Specifically, all manners of professional services from strategic management consulting to staff augmentation services for professional and technology roles. In this role, you’ll consistently work with senior-level stakeholders and strategic suppliers. This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work some days on-site at the Best Buy location listed on this posting and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in procurement or demonstrated involvement in sourcing, negotiations, contracting, or supplier management.
  • 1+ years of experience mentoring, cross-functional team management, and influencing without authority
  • Proficient knowledge in MS Office, emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint and ability to complete complex spend or data analysis, and presentation skills
  • Strong organization, communication, and collaboration skills

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience in procurement within professional services categories (e.g., consulting, staff augmentation, or technology services) with demonstrated involvement in sourcing, negotiations, or supplier management.
  • Expertise in vendor management systems and extended workforce management platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead category management and strategic sourcing activities including but not limited to negotiations, RFx, spend reporting/analysis, industry research, and opportunity identification.
  • Develop, present, and maintain category strategies for assigned areas of spend with the objective of determining opportunities within the categories and strategizing optimal sourcing methodologies.
  • Create and nurture stakeholder relationships, ensuring ongoing partnership and engagement.
  • Leverage expertise, tools, policies, and relationships to help educate and influence internal clients on sourcing recommendations to achieve optimal results.
  • Manage supplier relationships for effective exchange of information, optimizing engagement value for Best Buy.
  • Partner with colleagues in sourcing & procurement operations teams to ensure optimal executional results.
