About The Position

The Associate Buyer procures product from branded and non-branded vendors and works to maintain targeted customer service levels. The role monitors and responds to potential issues, communicates with customers and vendors, and helps resolve product-flow and inventory challenges. It uses system tools to analyze trends and maintain budgeted inventory levels, while coordinating action on close-coded, expired, and other unproductive inventory.

The Associate Buyer works with teammates and the merchandising group to achieve established goals, manage new items and item maintenance, and meet gross profit goals. The position may also assist with seasonal volume, storm recovery, service-level recovery, coverage for absences or vacations, and additional training. Travel is not required.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of relevant experience in purchasing or supply chain.
• Sound statistical acumen and strong interpretation and analytical ability.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
• A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate with vendors and customers to maximize product flow, manage inventory levels, and coordinate action on close-coded, expired, and other unproductive inventory.
• Use system tools to analyze and react to trends in order to accomplish budgeted inventory levels.
• Work with team members to achieve established goals.
• Communicate successes and resolve issues with customers.
• Partner with the merchandising group on new items, item maintenance, and achieving gross profit goals.
• Assist with seasonal volume, storm recovery, service-level recovery, absences, vacation coverage, and/or additional training.
