About The Position

The Associate Business Systems Analyst Intern supports the successful delivery of business process improvement, data, and technology initiatives across McKesson Canada. Working closely with business stakeholders, Product Owners, the Data Hub Canada technology team, and other technical teams, the analyst helps identify business needs, document requirements, analyze business processes, and validate solutions that improve operational performance and customer outcomes. In addition to supporting business analysis activities, this role will gain exposure to data engineering practices and modern data platforms. The analyst will assist with data integration initiatives and data-driven solutions across McKesson Canada, with a focus on supporting the Data Hub Canada technology team. This is an entry-level learning role designed to provide foundational experience in business analysis methods, data requirements, agile delivery practices, documentation standards, and solution validation while contributing to Data Hub priorities.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of business analysis techniques for gathering, documenting, and validating requirements.
  • Knowledge of stakeholder analysis to identify user needs, dependencies, and business impacts.
  • Knowledge of requirements traceability to maintain alignment between business needs, data requirements, and solution design.
  • Knowledge of business process modeling, workflow documentation techniques, and user story documentation.
  • Basic understanding of databases and data management concepts.
  • Foundational knowledge of SQL and data querying techniques.
  • Familiarity with data integration, ETL/ELT concepts, or data warehousing principles through coursework, projects, internships, or related experience.
  • Interest in cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure, AWS, or similar technologies.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and understand data-related deliverables.
  • Ability to prepare clear documentation, user stories, process maps, operating procedures, and data-related artifacts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, communication, collaboration, adaptability, and willingness to learn in a fast-moving technology environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; current enrollment in a relevant university, college, co-op, or internship program is acceptable for an intern role.
  • Typically requires 0–2 years of relevant professional experience; internships, co-op placements, academic projects, or related student experience acceptable.
  • Exposure to business analysis concepts, requirements management, business process improvement, agile delivery, data analysis, databases, data integration, or related methodologies through coursework, internships, projects, or related roles.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of data quality, data governance, and data lifecycle concepts is considered an asset.
  • Bilingual (English/French) preferred
  • Experience creating documentation, presentations, process flows, user stories, analysis notes, or project materials is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Document business requirements and maintain traceability throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Participate in requirement gathering sessions and assist in design discussions with user communities, business stakeholders, Product Owners, Functional Analysts, and technical teams.
  • Assist with documenting Data Contracts, business rules, data lineage, source-to-target context, and other data documentation for data integration initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Architects, Data Quality, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and support solution delivery.
  • Support meetings with stakeholders to understand business needs, document requirements, capture feedback, and translate decisions into actionable delivery artifacts.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, sprint reviews, and backlog refinement sessions.
  • Support user story creation and refinement, including acceptance criteria, Definition of Ready / Definition of Done inputs, dependencies, and delivery notes.
  • Collaborate with business partners and delivery teams to support user acceptance testing, validate solution functionality, and document findings.
  • Prepare business and user documentation, including process flows, user stories, operating procedures, data documentation, release inputs, and supporting materials.
  • Analyze business processes and data-related delivery needs to identify inefficiencies, gaps, risks, and opportunities for optimization, standardization, automation, and improved data quality.
  • Develop and maintain process maps, workflow documentation, data documentation, and other artifacts that support solution design, implementation, and operational handover.
  • Act as a liaison between business and technical teams by helping communicate business requirements, data impacts, solution impacts, and open questions.
  • Provide analytical support across deliverables, ensuring clarity, consistency, traceability, and quality in documentation and analysis artifacts.
  • Escalate issues and questions promptly to minimize impact on project timelines and outcomes.
