Project/Unit Description Command and Control Mission Assurance Division (C2MA) within the CIPHER Lab at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is seeking an Associate Branch Chief. C2MA develops cyber-resilient C4ISR systems for tactical and operational environments. The Division designs, tests, and fields new technologies and architectures, including secure network enclaves, virtualization, multi-level security, and adaptive quality of service management. C2MA has around 100 employees providing analysis, research and development supporting mission-critical command and control systems and associated testing and development efforts. GTRI is searching for an Associate Branch Chief and engineer/scientist with 2+ years of experience in cyber-resilient systems development, C4ISR architectures, or related cybersecurity domains. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in the design, evaluation, and implementation of secure command and control systems for tactical and operational environments. Program development and program management experience is required to develop and manage programs in the areas of cyber-resilience, mission assurance, and C4ISR system development. The responsibilities of the Associate Branch Chief are shared with the Branch Chief and split between the management of the division and actively performing research programs. Management responsibilities are expected to consume approximately 10%-25% time. The remaining time is anticipated to come from sponsored research. The branch is distributed across multiple sites in the Atlanta area, with field offices in San Diego, Phoenix, Orlando, and Utah. Travel is required in conducting GTRI research, developing business, meeting with customers, and demonstrating applied solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Hands-on experience with test and training ranges and multilevel security systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience organizing medium to large complexity tasks or efforts.
U.S. Citizenship Requirements Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.
Clearance Type Required Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a supervisory or functional management role, including leading small to mid-sized engineering teams, managing organization resources, and evaluating personnel performance.
Experience in a leadership position overseeing the software development lifecycle.
Experience in a project management role, including contributing to large programs and executing assigned tasking.

Responsibilities

Assist the Branch Chief with leading sponsored research projects and contributing to sponsored project success.
Interface with sponsors and act as a technical Point of Contact.
Manage Branch administrative activities, including student and full-time Research Faculty hiring, performance evaluations, personnel management, early career development, mentoring Branch members, and facilitating career growth.
Provide oversight of branch programs and operational resources and activities through management of budgets, resources, and compliance with policies and procedures.
Work with Branch and Division leadership to establish, maintain, and evolve the strategic vision and execution plan for the branch to enhance sponsored project portfolios and technical capabilities.
Develop research collaborations between other GTRI laboratories.
Encourage participation in IRADs aligned with Branch and Division strategic visions.
