About The Position

We are hiring an Associate Bio‑Stat Research Analyst to join the Health Plan and Quality Improvement Solutions team at BCBST! In this role, you will function as an analyst supporting a wide range of internal business partners by producing recurring and ad‑hoc reporting across clinical, operational, and financial domains. The team works with diverse data sources and audiences, including operational finance, utilization management, care advance case management, and BlueCare, with a strong focus on cost, utilization, and performance analytics using claims and authorization data. We foster a culture where innovation is encouraged. That includes using AI enabled tools responsibly to support everyday work — guided by proven workflows, templates, and policies. As roles become more advanced, we expect employees to leverage AI more broadly to transform how we serve members. BCBST is a remote-first organization with many employees working primarily from their homes. Each position within the company is classified as either fully remote, partially remote, or office based. BCBST hires employees for remote positions from across the U.S. with the exception of the following states: California, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and New York. Applicants living in these states may move to an approved state prior to starting a position with BCBST at their own expense. If the position requires the individual to reside in Chattanooga, TN, they may be eligible for relocation assistance.

Requirements

Familiarity working with data in an analytical or research capacity; specific tools are flexible
Demonstrated critical thinking and an analytical mindset with the ability to understand what is happening within complex datasets
Exposure to or interest in using AI tools to enhance data querying, analysis, and problem‑solving
Adaptability and willingness to evolve processes as tools, technologies, and business needs change
Undergraduate bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 2 years working experience is required, OR Master's Degree or Ph.D. with no experience is acceptable.
Competent to convert research protocol to programming specification logically and meaningfully
Attention to detail, exceptional documentation abilities, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently under general supervision and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast paced environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to participate in project design and interpretation with Research Staff
Must be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical co-workers
Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Teams
Organized, and capable of managing multiple assignments or projects simultaneously
Strong interpersonal abilities

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with AI tooling and concepts
Experience with cloud‑based data platforms (e.g., Google BigQuery, Snowflake, AWS)
Experience or education using data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI)
Familiarity with clinical terminology (physical and/or behavioral health)
Familiarity with Medicaid, Medicare, or other government healthcare programs
Exposure to claims, authorization data, case management, or managed care operations

Responsibilities

Analyzing and processing data, building and maintaining models and report templates, and developing dynamic, data-driven solutions.
Supporting Consultants on using business intelligence data for predictive analytics and facilitating implementation of new tools.
Identifying appropriate performance measures to be produced including lifts, efficiencies, confidence intervals, and other statistical metrics.
Under supervision, providing business clients with detailed, actionable reports documenting the findings from, data processing, and data analysis.
