About The Position

This position is for an Associate, Banker-Industry/Country Coverage with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in San Francisco, California. The role involves creating financial models and valuation analyses for M&A and financing transactions, preparing marketing materials, developing pitches for executives, conducting market research, mentoring junior analysts, and meeting with company management teams and industry experts. The Associate will build and maintain financial models, compile and analyze financial and economic data, and summarize information related to companies within specified industries or financial markets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role.
• Two (2) years of experience with financial valuation and modeling, including discounted cash flow analysis, accretion/dilution analysis, leverage buyout analysis, comparable companies, precedent transactions, sum-of-the-parts as well as benchmarking.
• Two (2) years of experience leading development of client overview materials, strategic considerations, and marketing materials for organizations to convey their key attributes to investors and other parties.
• Two (2) years of experience with advanced Microsoft Excel including working with macros, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and IF/AND formulas.
• Two (2) years of experience supporting senior bankers in maintaining client relationships.
• Two (2) years of experience helping senior team members evaluate models to develop key judgments about client companies.

Responsibilities

• Create financial models and valuation analyses during buy-side or sell-side M&A and financing presenting to corporates, financial sponsors, and private clients.
• Analyze accounting and regulatory statements, debt and equity filings and documents, financial projections, and models to support analyses.
• Collaborate with senior and junior bankers to prepare financial exhibits, marketing materials, and client information memoranda and presentations for potential buyers, investors and other relevant third parties.
• Develop and present pitches to executives across technology, media, and telecommunications sectors, covering topics such as strategic alternatives, capital structure, M&A opportunities, financing transactions, and industry trends.
• Conduct research and critical analysis of market share, macroeconomic trends, and cross company and sector data analyses within specified industries or markets.
• Mentor and train junior investment banking analysts.
• Meet with company management teams, and industry experts.
• Build and maintain financial models to gather, analyze and interpret economic and financial data relevant to investments in specified industries or markets.
• Compile, analyze and summarize financial and economic data and other information related to companies within specified industries or financial markets.
