About The Position

The Associate Attorney will assist the General Counsel (GC) and Paralegal with various legal duties. This role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal agreements, performing legal research and analysis, and managing legal staff. The Associate Attorney will also assist the GC in overseeing the organization's legal affairs to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, manage outside counsel when necessary, and provide guidance and support to the GC. Additionally, the role includes managing contracts, assisting with data entry of agreements into the legal database, and performing other assigned business tasks. Regular on-site and remote attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform all essential functions of the unit
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as Outlook
  • Basic knowledge of applicable areas of law, including Contracts and Intellectual Property
  • Skills necessary to guide, mentor and supervise staff
  • Ability to come to the office every day as requested by GC
  • Must have a J.D. from an ABA Accredited law school
  • Minimum of 2 years of legal experience as a Corporate Counsel or similar role
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and occasional standing and walking
  • Must have adequate hearing for phone work
  • Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English
  • Must be able to use a keyboard and other office equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably passed the California State Bar Exam and been admitted to the California State Bar Association

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, redline and negotiate important legal agreements
  • Perform legal research, review and analysis
