About The Position

Segal McCambridge is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney for its New York office, focused on general liability defense litigation. The attorney will manage a diverse caseload involving premises liability, property damage, personal injury defense, construction-related general liability, Child Victim Act matters, trucking and transportation, and other tort and civil litigation. The role offers ownership of cases, mentorship from experienced trial attorneys, and work on challenging, high-exposure matters with support from a national team of litigators. This is a hybrid position with a flexible mix of remote work and in-office collaboration.

Requirements

• Active license to practice law in New York.
• At least one year of civil litigation experience, ideally focused on general liability defense.
• Strong litigation skills, including pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, and client reporting.
• Excellent legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple cases and deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with mediation, arbitration, or trial.
• Dual licensure in another jurisdiction; Connecticut is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage cases from inception through resolution or trial.
• Draft pleadings, discovery, and motions.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Conduct legal research and develop case strategies.
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, court conferences, and trials.
• Communicate with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel.
• Collaborate with partners and other team members on case strategy.
