About The Position
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney with 1 to 5 years of insurance defense experience to join our litigation team. This position is primarily focused on Insurance Defense and Civil Litigation matters, with potential exposure to the firm's broader practice areas. The ideal candidate is an independent thinker who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment, communicates clearly with clients and insurers, and is eager to develop their skills under the guidance of experienced trial attorneys.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in the State of Nevada (required)
- 1 to 5 years of experience in insurance defense
- Experience with depositions, written discovery, and motion practice
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a high-volume caseload
- Proficiency with legal practice management software (Clio experience a plus)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Nice To Haves
- Experience appearing in Nevada state and federal courts
- Familiarity with Nevada insurance regulations and coverage issues
- Prior clerkship or internship with an insurance defense or civil litigation firm
Responsibilities
- Handle a caseload of insurance defense matters, including personal injury, premises liability, automobile accidents, and general liability
- Draft and respond to written discovery, motions, and pleadings
- Conduct depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts
- Appear at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
- Communicate effectively with insurance carrier clients and claims adjusters regarding case strategy and reserve recommendations
- Conduct legal research and prepare case evaluations and status reports
- Manage litigation deadlines and maintain accurate billing records in case management software
- Collaborate with partners and senior associates to develop litigation strategies
